A local staff in our Solar Powered School for Girls in Charsadda explains in Pashto language that temperature during summer peaks to 40°C in this area and power breakdown often happens for hours. With installation of solar PV system, school girls and teachers will now overcome those tough challenges.
For girls, it's not just the issue of accessibility to schools but to face weather extremes in changing climate. There're still 48% schools in Pakistan without proper electricity arrangement. Often temperature peaks to over 40 ºC during summer. Helping school girls with solar powered fans and lights is to enable them continue their education and fight climate crisis.
Solar For Her, a voluntary initiative, raises funds and spend it on establishing Solar Powered Schools for Girls across Pakistan. We believe that powering a girls' school with solar energy is a way to innovate climate action and empower girls for a better life!
